The use of livestock manure as organic fertilizer is an alternative to support sustainable agricultural systems. The quality of the resulting compost is strongly influenced by the characteristics of the starting material, which in this case is closely related to the composition of the livestock feed. This study aims to examine the effect of premix administration in sheep feed on decomposition efficiency and the quality of the resulting compost. The study used a Completely Randomized Design with two treatments, namely without premix (PO23) and with premix (PO24), each with five replications. Observed parameters included temperature, pH, humidity, physical changes in the material, decomposition efficiency, and nutrient content of the compost. Data were analyzed using an independent sample t-test at a significance level of 5%. The results showed that environmental parameters did not differ significantly between treatments (p>0.05), so the composting process took place under relatively homogeneous conditions. However, the premix treatment produced a higher fraction of fine material in the 3rd and 4th weeks and significantly increased decomposition efficiency compared to the treatment without premix. Compost from the premix treatment also showed a tendency to increase the content of nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, and microelements accompanied by a decrease in the C/N ratio. In general, the use of premix in sheep feed shows a tendency to improve the quality of organic matter while supporting a faster decomposition process during composting. This finding suggests that animal feed quality can influence the quality of the resulting compost by altering the characteristics of excreta.
