Edukasi Kontaminan Mikroba pada Kosmetik Remaja di SMK Hassanudin Medan

The use of cosmetics among adolescents continues to increase alongside evolving beauty trends and easier access to information. However, this usage is often not accompanied by adequate understanding of cosmetic safety, particularly regarding microbial contamination that can cause skin health problems. This community service activity aims to improve adolescents' knowledge and awareness of the risks of microbial contamination in cosmetics and preventive measures. The activity was conducted through health education using lectures, presentations, educational videos, and interactive discussions. Evaluation was carried out using pre-test and post-test to measure participants' understanding. The materials covered contaminant microorganisms, their effects on skin health, and the importance of maintaining cleanliness of cosmetic tools and products. Activity results showed an increase in participants' knowledge, marked by a rise in mean scores from 74 on the pre-test to 96 on the post-test. The number of participants achieving perfect scores also increased, accompanied by high participation throughout the activity. Thus, education on microbial contamination in cosmetics is effective in improving adolescents' understanding of safe and hygienic cosmetic use.
