Penguatan Budaya Bertutur Santun melalui Penyuluhan Anti-Toxic sebagai Respons Tren Perilaku Toxic pada Siswa SDN 3 Bukit Tunggal

Abstract

When impolite language begins to be perceived as a form of humor, toxic behavior in the school environment risks becoming normalized and poses a threat to the character development of students. Behaviors such as teasing, insults, and degrading communication not only affect social relationships among students but also undermine their sense of safety and comfort during the learning process. This issue highlights the need for preventive strategies through the promotion of polite communication as an integral part of character education at the elementary school level. This community service program aimed to enhance students’ understanding of the impacts of toxic behavior and to foster awareness of the importance of respectful and appreciative communication at SDN 3 Bukit Tunggal, Palangka Raya City. The program employed a participatory approach consisting of preliminary observation, interactive educational counseling, group discussions, role-playing activities, and participant evaluations using pre-tests and post-tests. The novelty of this program lies in its anti-toxic educational approach, which integrates the prevention of negative behavior with the reinforcement of positive communication values. This approach enables students not only to recognize the forms and impacts of toxic behavior but also to apply more constructive communication practices in their daily interactions. The results indicated an improvement in students’ understanding of toxic behavior, its consequences, and the importance of maintaining ethical communication in everyday life. This program is recommended for continuous implementation through collaboration among schools, families, and higher education institutions to create a safe, inclusive, and character-supportive educational environment.
