The journal is committed to responsible research and publication practices, guided by the principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and applicable research ethics standards.
Duties of Authors
Reporting Standards: Authors must present accurate, complete, and objective reports of their research. Manuscripts should clearly describe the research objectives, methods, data, analyses, and findings in sufficient detail to allow appropriate scientific evaluation. Conclusions must be supported by the results, and research limitations should be acknowledged. Fabrication, falsification, or deliberate misrepresentation of research data and findings is unacceptable.
Data Access and Retention: Authors must retain research data and supporting documentation relevant to their manuscripts. When requested by the editor for editorial assessment or verification, authors must provide the available data within a reasonable period, subject to applicable ethical requirements, confidentiality obligations, and data protection regulations.
Originality and Plagiarism: Authors must ensure that submitted manuscripts are original and that all sources, ideas, quotations, and previously published materials are appropriately acknowledged and cited. Plagiarism, including copying without attribution, inappropriate paraphrasing, and misrepresentation of another person's work, is unacceptable. All submitted manuscripts are subject to plagiarism screening using Turnitin, in accordance with the journal's Plagiarism Process policy.
Duplicate and Concurrent Publication: Authors must not submit the same manuscript simultaneously to more than one journal. Manuscripts must not contain substantially overlapping material that has already been published elsewhere without appropriate disclosure and justification. If a manuscript is accepted for publication in Jurnal MID-Z, authors must comply with the journal's publication requirements and must not republish the same work elsewhere in violation of the applicable publication agreement.
Acknowledgment of Sources: Authors must acknowledge all relevant sources that have influenced their research and manuscript. Publications, theories, methods, data, and ideas derived from other works must be appropriately cited.
Authorship and Contributions: Authorship must reflect substantial scholarly contributions to the conception or design of the research, data collection, analysis or interpretation, manuscript preparation or critical revision, and approval of the final version. The corresponding author must ensure that all eligible contributors are appropriately recognized, that all listed authors have approved the final manuscript, and that no individual who does not meet the authorship criteria is listed as an author. Contributors who do not meet the authorship criteria should be acknowledged appropriately, with their permission.
Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest: Authors must disclose financial and non-financial interests that could influence the research, its interpretation, or the presentation of findings. All sources of funding and relevant institutional support must be declared.
Research Ethics and Human Participants: Research involving human participants must comply with applicable ethical standards and institutional requirements. Where required, authors must obtain approval from an appropriate research ethics committee and provide the committee's name and approval number in the manuscript.
Informed consent must be obtained when required by the research design and applicable ethical standards. Authors must protect the privacy, confidentiality, dignity, and rights of research participants.
For case reports, clinical photographs, and other potentially identifiable information, appropriate consent and confidentiality safeguards must be ensured.
Use of Artificial Intelligence: Authors who use generative artificial intelligence or AI-assisted tools in preparing a manuscript should disclose such use in accordance with the journal's applicable policy. AI tools cannot be listed as authors and cannot assume responsibility for the accuracy, originality, or integrity of a manuscript. Authors remain responsible for verifying all content, references, data interpretations, and scientific claims. AI tools must not be used to fabricate research data, generate misleading evidence, or conceal plagiarism
Fundamental Errors in Published Works: When authors discover significant errors or inaccuracies in their published work, they must promptly notify the editor and cooperate in correcting the scholarly record. Depending on the nature of the error, the journal may publish a correction or consider retraction.
Duties of Editors
Fair Play and Editorial Independence: Editors evaluate manuscripts based on their scientific merit, originality, methodological quality, relevance to the journal's focus and scope, and compliance with publication requirements. Editorial decisions must be made fairly and objectively, without discrimination based on authors' race, gender, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, ethnicity, nationality, institutional affiliation, or political views.
Confidentiality: Editors and editorial staff must maintain the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and related communications. Manuscript information may only be shared with authorized individuals involved in the editorial and publication process, including authors, reviewers, editorial advisers, and the publisher, as appropriate.
Disclosure and Conflict of Interest: Editors must not use unpublished material disclosed in a submitted manuscript for their own research or personal advantage without the author's written permission. Editors must disclose any actual or potential conflicts of interest and, where necessary, delegate the manuscript to an independent editor.
Publication Decision: The editorial board is responsible for deciding which manuscripts will be published. Decisions must consider the manuscript's scientific quality, relevance to the journal's scope, reviewer recommendations, ethical compliance, and applicable legal requirements, including copyright and plagiarism. The final decision rests with the Editor-in-Chief or an authorized editor.
Initial Screening and Peer Review: Editors must conduct an initial assessment of each submitted manuscript to evaluate its originality, relevance to the journal's scope, completeness, and compliance with submission requirements. Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are processed according to the journal's double-blind peer-review policy and assigned to at least two reviewers with appropriate expertise. Editors must select reviewers impartially, avoid conflicts of interest, and ensure that the review process is conducted fairly and confidentially.
Duties of Reviewers
Contribution to Editorial Decision: Peer review assists editors in making informed publication decisions and helps authors improve the scientific quality of their manuscripts. Reviewers should assess the manuscript's originality, methodological rigor, validity of findings, interpretation, relevance, and contribution to midwifery and maternal and child health.
Promptness: Reviewers who feel unqualified to assess a manuscript or are unable to complete a review within the required timeframe must promptly notify the editor and decline the invitation where appropriate.
Objectivity and Constructive Feedback: Reviews must be objective, constructive, and supported by clear scientific arguments. Reviewers should identify the manuscript's strengths and weaknesses and provide recommendations for improvement. Personal criticism of authors is inappropriate.
Confidentiality: Manuscripts received for review are confidential documents. Reviewers must not disclose, reproduce, distribute, or discuss submitted manuscripts with unauthorized individuals without the editor's permission.
Acknowledgment of Sources: Reviewers should identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors and notify the editor of substantial similarities between the manuscript under review and other published or unpublished work of which they are aware.
Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest: Reviewers must disclose actual or potential conflicts of interest arising from competitive, collaborative, financial, personal, or institutional relationships with the authors or organizations involved. Reviewers must not use unpublished information or ideas obtained through peer review for personal or professional advantage.

During peer review, reviewers assess the manuscript's scientific substance and technical quality, including originality, research design, methodology, analysis, interpretation, relevance, and compliance with ethical standards. Following the review, manuscripts may be accepted, returned for revision, or rejected. Revised manuscripts may undergo further assessment where necessary.
The editorial process generally takes approximately three to five weeks, as stated in the journal's peer-review policy. The actual duration may vary depending on reviewer availability, revision requirements, and editorial considerations. Similarity reports are evaluated by the responsible editor and the Editor-in-Chief. Similarity percentages must be interpreted in context because legitimate quotations, references, common terminology, and previously disclosed material may contribute to a similarity score.
Potential plagiarism and other forms of publication misconduct are assessed according to the journal's applicable policies. Confirmed misconduct may result in manuscript rejection, further investigation, correction, or retraction, depending on the severity of the case.
The journal does not tolerate plagiarism, fabrication or falsification of data, duplicate publication, inappropriate authorship, or other practices that compromise academic integrity.

Jurnal MID-Z (Midwifery Zigot) Jurnal Ilmiah Kebidanan is committed to maintaining an accurate and reliable scholarly record. Corrections may be published when errors are identified that require amendment but do not invalidate the principal findings of an article.

An expression of concern may be issued when credible questions arise about the reliability or integrity of a publication and further investigation is required.
Such actions must be proportionate to the circumstances and communicated transparently, with the relevant article linked to the appropriate notice.
Complaints and Appeals
Authors may submit complaints regarding the editorial process or appeal an editorial decision by providing clear reasons and relevant supporting evidence.
Complaints and appeals will be considered fairly, objectively, and confidentially by the Editor-in-Chief or an appropriate editorial representative. Where a conflict of interest exists, the matter should be assigned to an independent editor or other appropriate authority.
